The Feeding of the 5000 Giclees
from the original 48 x 60" oil
by Rosemarie Adcock
This painting depicts one of the most beloved accounts of the miracles of Jesus, the miraculous feeding of the 5000, recorded in all four Gospel accounts of the life of Jesus.
One of my main goals with this painting was to paint utter joy. What a celebration it had to be, to see Jesus take the 5 loaves and 2 fish brought to Him, give thanks, and have the disciples distribute the food to the 5000 hungry people who were there at the end of a long day. It is thought that there were 5000 men in addition to their wives and children who ate.
Not only was there enough food for every man, woman and child who were present, but the leftovers were gathered and filled the 12 baskets of each disciple. The feeding was a miracle, the leftovers were a message, that was forgotten by no one.
The record of this event can be found in Matthew 14, Mark 6, Luke 9, and John 6
